Exhibit Connect: Botanical Lens

THE WILD NEARBY is an exhibition that continues Elizabeth Chiles’ exploration into the power of plants. Read more about her work here.

Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite plant from home to use as their photographic muse! Guided by the expert instruction of Roxann Grover, participants will learn techniques for staging settings, harnessing light, and crafting balanced compositions that showcase the unique character of each plant. Join us in creating captivating botanical portraits that reflect the wonders of the natural world.

CLASS FORMAT

This class is conducted in Galveston Arts Center’s studio classroom located on the second floor of GAC.


POLICIES

  • Deadline for enrollment is the April 01, 2024, Late enrollment is permitted however some supplies may not be available for late enrollees. Contact education director for details.

  • Participant cancellation policy: missed or cancelled classes will not be refunded.

  • In the rare event of GAC cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances, we will make every effort to schedule a make-up session on an alternate date.

  • Group communications are conducted through email. Please check your inbox for announcements.

DISCOUNTS
GAC Members enjoy 20% off of tuition. You must sign in with the email associated with your membership account to receive the discount. Full-time students, teachers/professors, and parents who homeschool can join at the Student/Educator level for just $30/year.

For liability reasons, please do not register a student who is a minor unless you are their parent or legal guardian.

SCHOLARSHIPS & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Teachers, counsellors, etc. may nominate a student with whom they are professionally acquainted for a scholarship if they can attest to the the student’s interest in the subject and financial need. The student’s parent/legal guardian will be notified and given further instructions. You may not nominate your own child, dependent, or other close relation. GAC also offers financial assistance in an effort to ensure art education stay accessible to all families. Contact GAC’s education director to learn more!


ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Roxann Grover is a Visual Designer and freelance photographer with a graduate degree and professional experience in web design, graphic art, photography, and social media management. She recently exhibited art in Solar Impressions & International Masters/Collaborations in Printmaking, a 2019 exhibit organized by Dan Welden, creator of the Solarplate method, at Southampton Arts Center in Sag Harbor, New York. Her work was selected 37th out of over 750 entries.
