PRESERVED, PRESSED & POSTED

with Sarah Rain & Kathleen Maca

You are invited to slow down in the present to see the details of the past with Kathleen and Sarah for a unique, beginner-friendly experience that combines art and history. During this two-hour class we'll witness historic architecture of downtown Galveston guided by local author and historian Kathleen Maca. We'll take a 45-minute walk (covering less than one city block) to view beautiful historic details and hear stories from another era. Along the way, Sarah, your art-instructor, will teach you to use small rubber/clay stamps to make temporary impressions of the architectural features and details to stamp back at the studio. After the walk, we'll return to the Galveston Arts Center to transfer your impressions onto a mail-ready postcard to send to a loved one or keep as a memento. You are welcome to bring a journal or note cards if you'd like to stamp there, as well. We look forward to making some art and some memories with you!
