Oil Painting
for Adults
Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM
4 weeks October 7th - October 28th
This course introduces students to the core techniques of oil painting, including color mixing, blending, brushwork, and composition. Participants will explore traditional and contemporary approaches to oil painting while learning how to safely handle materials and mediums. Through guided instruction and individual practice, students will build foundational skills while working on still life, landscape, and abstract projects. No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided. This class is ideal for adults interested in developing a strong base in oil painting within a supportive studio setting.
POLICIES
ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: Sept 3, 2023
Late enrollment may be accepted, however some materials may not be ready at first class.
NO REFUNDS on registrantion fees.
In the rare event of cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances, a reasonable effort will be made to schedule a make-up class session on an alternate date, or the class fee (less any classes already held) will be credited to the customer’s account.
Group communications/announcements are conducted by email to the address entered at registration. Individual communications may be handled by phone/text.
For liability reasons, please do not register a student who is a minor unless you are their parent or legal guardian.

Non-members: $150
Members: $ 120
All supplies are included in the class fee.
RETURNING STUDENTS: Those who have taken this or a similar drawing class before will be challenged to take on more advanced versions of the exercises and projects after brushing up on the fundamentals. No artist is ever finished learning!

SCHOLARSHIPS
Teachers, counsellors, or members of the community etc. may nominate a student with whom they are professionally acquainted for a scholarship if they can attest to the the student’s interest in the subject and financial need. The student’s parent/legal guardian will be notified and given further instructions. You may not nominate yourself, your own child, dependent, or other close relation.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Varsha Kumar is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in painting, drawing, and large-scale murals, with work exhibited at the Dallas Museum of Art and across public spaces in Texas. With years of experience teaching art to children, teens, and adults, she brings a passion for creativity, mentorship, and community engagement to every class. Varsha’s dynamic approach helps students build confidence while exploring their own artistic voices.
