Haunted Impressions

For ages 13+

October 3

7:00-9pm walking tour with Kathleen Maca. 9-10:30pm Photo transfer and painting in GAC’s Studio classroom

GAC is collaborating with Kathleen Maca, local author, photographer, and historian, for an evening where history lingers in the shadows and stories echo through the streets. Begin with a twilight walking tour along the Strand, where you’ll hear haunting tales of Galveston’s most storied spirits; figures who once walked the same cobblestones, now remembered in whispers.

As your tour comes to a close at the steps of Galveston Arts Center, you’ll join your teaching artist in the studio to create an artwork that captures the night’s ghostly encounters. Using a historic photograph of the W.L. Moody Building, you’ll learn to transfer the image onto wood panel, then paint spectral figures into its windows; phantoms pulled from the stories still drifting through the island air.

Important Tour Information

Wear comfortable walking shoes, and be aware of curbs and uneven walking paths. The Strand is well lit, so flashlights aren't necessary but you are welcome to bring one if you like.

Tour is wheelchair accessible.

No video or audio recording allowed during the tour. STILL PHOTOS ARE ENCOURAGED-you never know who or what you might capture!

Content not appropriate for small children.

Guide takes no responsibility for injuries incurred during tour. There are limited restroom opportunities on The Strand, so it is encouraged to "take care of business" ahead of time.

Tour will be given rain or shine except in the case of a severe thunderstorm. Ticket fee is non-refundable.

There will be no physical tickets, meeting location will be emailed prior to Oct 3.
