Art of Caregiving Student Art Exhibition

In a special summer course at UTMB, second-year Physical Therapy students reflect on the meaning of caregiving by creating an original work of art - visual, written, performance, or other, based on their personal interview with a full-time caregiver from our community. Cat Adoption and Drawing Event

In conjunction with Chuck & George’s exhibition, Cat Butt Parfait, join GAC and the Galveston Island Humane Society (GIHS) for an afternoon adoption event and open drawing lab. Help us find forever homes for cats and kittens from GIHS. Let these lovely kitties be your muse as you try your hand at sketching cats of all shapes, colors, and sizes during the event. 2-Day Taiguruma Kids’ Workshop

Friday and Saturday, August 2 & 3 1:00 – 4:00 PM each day In this workshop, go on an inspiring cultural journey and learn about the festivities involved in the making and use of Taiguruma, the traditional Japanese fish-shaped paper lantern on wheels. Taiguruma is part of an annual celebration in Niigata, Japan, Galveston’s sister city, where, for generations, children have built the lanterns from scratch and paraded them through the streets.
