In conjunction with Dan Schmahl’s exhibition, Sufer’s Beach, Ballroom Marfa, the Texas Surf Museum, and Galveston Arts Center invite you for two evenings of experimental surf films.

Desert Surf Films includes two visionary films from the early ’70s, Alby Falzon and David Elfick’s Morning of the Earth and Elfick’s Crystal Voyager, along with shorts from Dan Schmahl and Ian Lewis. The program, curated by former Ballroom Marfa Executive Director Susan Sutton, is a recognition of these classic features’ place in the history of international avant-garde cinema, and as near-perfect encapsulations of the transcendent surfing experience.

Morning of the Earth

A Poem for an Anarcho-Beach Utopia in Galveston, TX (2016)
